Let the flowing lines of sinuye tattoos and the unique, expressive sound of the mukkuri transport you to the world of Ainupuri! Ainupuri is an extraordinary, contemporary depiction of the culture of the Ainu, the Indigenous people of northern Japan. A still and moving image project created by two female artists, AinuToday founder Kanako Uzawa and Laura Liverani (post-production by Jamie Michael Bivard). Ainupuri aims to reinterpret and breathe new life into collections of Ainu objects held in the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo.
